Canadian Heritage Grants and Funding Programs
Canada Media Fund
The Canada Media Fund, a public-private partnership, provides funding for the creation of television convergent digital content in both official languages and Aboriginal languages and leading-edge non-linear content and applications designed for distribution on multiple platforms.
- The Convergent Stream supports multi-platform Canadian projects: they provide content on at least two distribution platforms, one of which is television. Through this stream, the CMF will support the creation of television shows and related digital media content in 4 genres: drama, documentary, children’s and youth, and variety and performing arts.
- The Experimental Stream encourages the creation of leading-edge, interactive, digital media content and software applications. Projects funded under the Experimental Program are to be developed for commercial potential by the Canadian media industry or public use by Canadians.
Canada Interactive Fund
The Canada Interactive Fund provides funding for the creation of online Canadian interactive content and applications developed by Official Language Minority Community, Aboriginal, ethnocultural and other not-for-profit cultural organizations. Through the Broadcasting and Digital Communications Branch, Canadian Heritage liaises with a wide variety of companies, corporations and not-for-profit organizations. The Branch also liaises with unions, guilds and associations representing the broadcasting and the digital media industries.
