Ontario Book Grants and Funding Programs

Ontario Media Development Corporation (OMDC) provides the following funding programs:

  • Tax Credits
  • Book Fund
  • Export Fund – Book
  • Ontario Authors Tour Support
  • Collaboration and Innovation Fund
  • Research Grants
  • Trillium Book Award

You may be entitled to a 30% refundable tax credit, to a maximum of $30,000 per literary work, if you publish or promote work by a Canadian author.

The OMDC Book Fund supports independent Ontario-based book publishers. Successful applicants are eligible to receive up to $100,000 depending on eligible sales revenue, capped at 75% of the total project budget.

The Ontario government established the Trillium Book Award in 1987 to recognize excellence, support marketing and foster increased public awareness of the quality and diversity of Ontario writers and writing. The award given to the author of each winning book is $20,000 and their publishers receive $2,500 for the marketing and promotion of the titles.
