Results of a nation-wide survey show Ontario’s grade 8 students are ranked among the highest in reading and second in science and math.

According to the Pan-Canadian Assessment Program’s (PCAP) 2013 report, Ontario was the only province that scored at or above the Canadian average in all three subjects with Ontario’s results in reading the highest of all provinces by a significant margin.

Ontario supports initiatives such as the Parents Reaching Out Grants, Homework Help and the Summer Learning Program to ensure student success. Ensuring student success and achieving excellence are key goals outlined in Ontario’s renewed vision for education.

Supporting a world-class education system is part of the government’s economic plan to invest in people, build modern infrastructure and support a dynamic and innovative business climate.

The four part plan is building Ontario up by investing in people’s talents and skills, building new public infrastructure like roads and transit, creating a dynamic, supportive environment where business thrives, and building a secure savings plan so everyone can afford to retire.
