The Targeted Initiative for Older Workers will help unemployed older workers increase their ability to find and keep a job while the local economy changes. Employment Ontario delivers the Targeted Initiative for Older Workers to communities hit hard by the recession and economic change. Employment Ontario offers a range of programs and services to help Ontarians find a job, including career counseling, résume workshops, job finding help and wage subsidy programs. The initiative will help workers who are:
- aged 55 to 64
- unemployed
- legally entitled to work in Canada
- lack skills needed to find a new job, and
- live in a vulnerable community – one with high unemployment, largely dependent on a single employer or industry and has a population of 250,000 or less
