Founded in 1931, the foundation helps senior writers when they fall on hard times and are in extreme financial distress.
Scotiabank Giller Prize
This is a literary prize of $50,000 awarded to a Canadian author of a novel or short story fiction collection published in English (including translation) the previous year, after an annual juried competition between publishers who submit entries. Of this, $40,000 is presented to the winning author and $2,500 each for the other four shortlisted nominees.
